Do you have experience teaching Food Technology? Are you confident to manage challenging behaviour and do you find working with vulnerable young people rewarding?
This is a chance to make your subject come alive for pupils who often struggle to engage in core subjects. Interviews are taking place from next week and will consist of a lesson observation and interview with Senior Leadership. The school are seeking a dynamic and confident Food Technology Teacher to join the team at this KS3 PRU.
The ethos at this Camden based school, revolves around providing a fresh start and encouraging students to see and achieve their own potential. All pupils attending will have experienced challenges in mainstream schools prior to attending. Upon coming to this specialist provision, students are offered more flexible and creative pathways for education and training. A Nurture Approach is central to all teaching and intervention at this school and the Food Technology Teacher will need to be confident using this approach.
Support at the school ranges from short term programmes supporting reintegration to mainstream, to long-term provision and vocational pathways across two sites in Camden. The Food Technology Teacher will teach pupils attending the school with complex social, emotional and mental health needs. Challenging behaviour is a common presentation of these needs. Many students are also referred with EHCPs for Learning and Cognition and/or Social Communication and Interaction needs. The curriculum covers 3 key areas: core subjects, vocational subjects and personal development.
