Ex-service men and women to work in education

Immediate start: Flexible adhoc work available

£60-80 per day

Teaching personnel are the UK’s leading supplier for education professionals and are currently inundated with various requests for staff across local schools.

One need is for cover supervisors, in the Chichester and Portsmouth areas. We can offer flexible work, ranging from 2-3 days per week to full-time. Long-term and permanent opportunities may also become available.

What is a cover supervisor expected to do?

-         Prepare the classroom ready for lessons

-         Complete admin tasks such as registration

-         Facilitate independent learning of the students

-         Support with student queries wherever possible

-         Clear the classroom at the end of lessons

To be clear, cover supervisors are not expected to have specialist subject knowledge, nor does the role include any planning or marking. All the materials are prepared by the absent teacher or school.

If cover supervisor work is not for you, we also have several opportunities to work as a Teaching Assistant in the same area. Responsibilities of a TA include:

-         Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis

-         Working with children with learning difficulties

-         Assisting the class teacher wherever possible

-         Building a positive rapport with students to help with their holistic development such as social skills

There is also scope to work as a TA and cover supervisor, which is one of the other many perks of working for Teaching Personnel. A lot of our current cover supervisors started off as a TA and after building experience within a classroom setting, took the step up to cover a whole class.

Please note that in all roles, there are support networks in place at the school for any issues that may arise. No school-based experience is necessary but working with children and/or holding positions of responsibility is desirable.

If you are interested in hearing more about these roles, please apply ASAP with your CV. We will then get in touch with further information.

Safer in education checks are required, such as making a fully enhanced child-only DBS application. Full assistance provided.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
