The school based in the Gosport area are looking for education support workers who can provide specific mentoring, behaviour and emotional well-being support to predominately KS3 pupils. The school provides a comprehensive intervention and catch up programme, funded by the pupil premium to enable all students an equal opportunity to succeed and fulfil their potential. You will be working mostly with pupils who have individual educational plans and vulnerable students who achieved a low level at the end of key stage 2 (year 6). The programme will provide both small group and 1:1 intense support thia academic year focusing on a range of needs such as transitioning year groups/schools, attachment, verbal reasoning, comprehension and social and emotional coping. The intervention will be targeted towards each student’s individual needs as a result of careful monitoring and liaison with former teachers and support staff.

The school hosts a learning and literacy centre as directed by the SENCO and supports students with the following needs:

  • Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dysgraphia
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Global Development Delay
  • Autism (ASC)
  • Reading and spelling difficulties
  • Numeracy and literacy catch up
  • Concentration and Working memory delay
  • Speech and Language difficulties (SPLD)
  • Social Emotional and Mental Health complexities

You will be required to report back to the SENCO the progress of your students through closely monitoring them throughout the duration of the intervention. On occasion you may also be required to be involved in meetings and communicate with parents/external agencies. Experience of working with students with additional needs is essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
