An innovative alternative provision unit in the Llandeilo area is seeking a strong, confident, and compassionate Complex Needs Support Officer to provide 1:1 support and small group mentoring to young people aged 11-19. All learners are on the autistic spectrum, with some presenting severe or profound learning difficulties.

This is a deeply rewarding role for someone who believes in inclusion, patience, and unlocking potential - academically, socially, and emotionally.

About the Provision

This is a purpose-built centre designed specifically for children and young people with autism. The environment is calm, supportive, and tailored to individual needs, featuring:

• A fully equipped sensory room
• A purpose-built life skills flat to support preparation for adulthood
• Outdoor facilities including a bike track and specialist play park
• Small class sizes and a strong, collaborative staff team

The focus is on helping learners feel safe, understood, and empowered to succeed in their own way.

The Role

As a Complex Needs Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting both teaching staff and learners throughout the day. You'll help create structure, consistency, and trust - while adapting to the individual needs of each young person.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for learners with Autism
• Support learners to engage with workstations and collaborative tasks
• Assist students when attending therapy sessions
• Implement and support Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and tailored interventions
• Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment
• Support the teacher with individualised lesson planning and delivery
• Promote independence, confidence, and emotional regulation
• Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner

What We're Looking For

Essential qualities and experience:

• Experience working in SEN settings, particularly with individuals on the Autism Spectrum
• Confident and adaptable when responding to changing behaviour
• Calm, consistent, and emotionally intelligent
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to follow professional guidance
• Compassionate, approachable, and takes initiative
• Confidence in managing challenging behaviour
• Enhanced DBS (child workforce) or willingness to obtain one
• Full UK driving licence
