General Classroom Teaching Assistant – Wigan Primary School

Start Date: February 2026
Contract: Full-time / Part-time options available

We are working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the Wigan area that is looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and making a positive impact in the classroom. You will work closely with class teachers to provide general classroom support, helping pupils to stay engaged, confident, and motivated throughout the school day.

The role will include:

  • Supporting learning across the curriculum in a whole-class setting.
  • Working with small groups and individual pupils when required.
  • Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Assisting with classroom organisation and preparation of resources.
  • Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development.

The school is looking for someone who:

  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (Or is willing to apply for one).
  • Has experience working with children in a school or similar setting.
  • Is patient, caring, and proactive.
  • Can build positive relationships with both pupils and staff.
  • Is reliable, flexible, and enthusiastic about education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
