We are seeking an experienced and motivated Care Manager to lead the daily operations of our service for young people aged 16-18. The successful candidate will create a safe, stable, and supportive environment where young people are encouraged to develop independence, confidence, and positive life skills.
This role requires strong leadership, a commitment to safeguarding, and the ability to ensure the service consistently delivers high standards of care in line with Ofsted regulations, company policies, and relevant legislation.
Oversee the smooth running of the supported living provision on a day-to-day basis
Lead and motivate staff teams to deliver high-quality support to young people
Manage staffing arrangements, including rotas and shift coverage
Carry out regular supervisions, appraisals, and team meetings
Support the recruitment, induction, and ongoing development of staff members
Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of all young people within the service
Ensure support plans, risk assessments, and safety plans are completed and regularly reviewed
Encourage young people to build independence, emotional resilience, and everyday life skills
Support access to education, training, employment, healthcare, and community activities
Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, incidents, missing episodes, and challenging behaviour
Ensure the service operates in accordance with:
Ofsted standards and regulations
The Children Act 1989
Supported Accommodation Regulations
Current safeguarding legislation and guidance
Conduct regular audits and quality assurance checks
Maintain accurate records and reports
Ensure all staff follow company policies and procedures consistently
Build and maintain positive working relationships with:
Local Authorities
Social Workers
CAMHS
Education providers
Families and external agencies
Attend reviews, professional meetings, and safeguarding conferences where required
Ensure the home remains safe, welcoming, and suitable for young people
Oversee medication procedures and general health & safety compliance
Ensure staff are confident in emergency procedures and risk management practices
Experience supporting young people aged 16-18
Previous experience in a senior or leadership role within supported living or residential care
Strong safeguarding knowledge and risk management experience
Understanding of Ofsted requirements and relevant legislation
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
Ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations
Full UK driving licence
Level 3, 4, or 5 qualification in Health & Social Care or Leadership & Management
Experience managing supported accommodation services
Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and therapeutic practice
Team leadership and staff management
Strong organisational and time management abilities
Effective report writing and record keeping
Problem solving and decision making
Building positive relationships with young people and partner agencies
