Your role is to make sure they understand both.
As a Secondary Biology Teacher, you will teach KS3 and KS4 students how living systems work, using structured explanation and clear progression so pupils can build knowledge step by step.
Key responsibilities
Teach Biology across KS3 and KS4
Explain processes such as respiration, digestion, and photosynthesis clearly
Support students in understanding diagrams and systems
Deliver practical work safely and effectively
Reinforce correct terminology and scientific language
Prepare students for GCSE exams
Track progress and provide targeted support
The classroom environment
Lessons are clearly structured and well paced
Students understand concepts rather than memorising them
Practical work supports learning, not replaces it
Behaviour is calm and consistent
Skills and experience
Strong Biology subject knowledge
Experience teaching secondary or strong academic background
Clear communication and explanation skills
Confident classroom management
What success looks like
Students explain processes in their own words
Confidence improves in written and verbal responses
Fewer repeated misconceptions
Steady progress across all ability levels
QTS is desirable; unqualified teachers are welcome to apply, particularly those with Biology or life sciences backgrounds
