A highly respected SEN Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Art Teacher with Responsibility to join the teaching team at one of its specialist schools in Basingstoke. This role is a unique opportunity for an experienced Art educator with a passion for SEN (Special Educational Needs) to make a profound difference in a nurturing, supportive environment committed to unlocking each student’s full potential.

The successful candidate will bring a creative approach to learning, with the ability to inspire and support students with diverse educational needs. In this role, you will not only teach but also lead initiatives to enrich the Art curriculum, ensuring it is accessible and engaging for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Curriculum Development: Plan and deliver high-quality Art lessons tailored to meet the needs of SEN students across various age groups.
  • Responsibility Role: Lead and develop Art curriculum initiatives, collaborating with other departments to create cross-curricular opportunities and enhance students’ learning experience.
  • Student Progress Monitoring: Assess, track, and report on student progress, setting personalized goals to help each student achieve their best.
  • Supportive Environment: Foster a safe, inclusive, and inspiring classroom atmosphere where students feel valued and confident in their artistic abilities.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEN education and Art pedagogy.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in Art education.
  • Proven experience in working with SEN students and adapting teaching methods to meet varied needs.
  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging Art lessons that are accessible, innovative, and aligned with individual education plans.
  • Experience or interest in curriculum leadership, with a commitment to enhancing the Art department’s offerings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset, with a strong commitment to inclusive education and the mission of the Multi-Academy Trust.

Desirable:

  • Experience in using therapeutic or creative arts approaches in an SEN setting.
  • A track record of driving student engagement and progress through innovative teaching practices.
