The Role

Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a very specialist person for this role. Although the job title will be Teaching Assistant, this role will be advertised for youth workers also. The school is question is a specialist school that has 80 students all with complex SE needs aswell as sensitive mental health and additional needs.

We are looking for someone who is aware of the additional needs and complexitites of SEN children and the time and patience that will be require to ensure a safe an calm environmnet for them to feel safe in and thrive. The role comprises mostly of 1:1 support with all students ot 1:1 with the same student for the year. Your role would require you to observe and report on the pupils attention and progression in class as well as their general well-being to teachers, parents and carers. Additional supporting responsibilities will be included as and when they arise.

  • Looking for a Full Time Teaching Assistant to join as early as next week. The ideal candidate would be relatable to children with an understanding and sensitivity to mental health, self-harming and sensory needs.
  • The children at this school cover a vast range of SE needs, which include, Autism, Mute, Deaf as well as children who identify as Non-Binary and are Transgender and require support with their emotions and mental health. This school is a safe space for children to comfortable be themselves and thrive.
  • The school has 80 children and a team of 10 TA’s, they are looking for an additional all-rounder TA.
  • Other than the core subjects the school offers a lot of opportunity for; music, photography, food tech, sports and animal care. This includes looking after their school pets; Rats, geckos and bearded dragons.

You will need

  • DBS
  • References from most recent employers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Engagment with pupils on their learning and a drive to encourage their development
  • UK Drivers license(Desired but not required)
  • Experience of supporting complex needs of pupils with SEND(Desired but not required)
  • Registered with Teaching Personnel
